This morning Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua blessed the new Tauaru Whakaora Hapori - community hub mobile caravan - at the Blenheim Fire Station.

The caravan, gifted to Fire and Emergency NZ by Rotary, will be a tremendous asset for Te Tau Ihu hapori during response and recovery from natural disasters such as floods, fires and other emergencies.

Designed to be a link between emergency response teams and their communities, the caravan place to gather, get up-to-date information and guidance as to what to do to get through.

Totally self-sufficient, there's a kitchen, a space for meetings for affected whānau, solar panels, portable generators, gas for cooking, and fresh and grey water tanks. A defibrillator, first aid kit and fire extinguisher, charging for phones and devices and the ability to connect to WiFi are also included.
