Applications are now open for the Marlborough Lines Tertiary Scholarship for Māori.
Please feel free to circulate this information and the accompanying application form to suitable tauira (students). This scholarship is open to both school leavers and adult learners.
Application form and process
The application form can be completed electronically and submitted by email to admin@rangitane.org.nz (subject line ‘Tertiary Scholarship for Māori’) or printed and posted/delivered to:

Application forms are also available to collect from Marlborough Boys’ College, Marlborough Girls’ College, Queen Charlotte College, your local marae or your local iwi office in digital or hard form.
Scholarship Guidelines
- This scholarship is open to both adult learners and college leavers who identify as Māori and reside within the catchment of Marlborough Lines (i.e., the Marlborough region west to Rangitoto/d’Urville Island, north to the Marlborough Sounds and south to Waipapa Bay on the eastern coast).
- The scholarship is for one year only. Successful applicants may reapply for the scholarship in subsequent years.
- Information requested is essential in determining applications. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
- In respect to all written applications the decision of the appointment panel is final.
- Applicants must:
- Be descended from at least one of the following Marlborough iwi – Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō, Ngāti Koata, Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Kuia, Ngāti Rārua, Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Rangitāne o Wairau and Te Ātiawa o Te Waka-a-Māui.
- Be able to demonstrate their involvement in/commitment to Te Ao Māori.
Identify strongly with the Marlborough region. - Be studying towards a tertiary qualification in the forthcoming academic year.
- Show evidence of the ability to undertake tertiary study.
- The scholarship will be granted on written confirmation from the relevant tertiary institution that the applicant has been accepted onto the course
of study. - Applications close on October 31, 2024.
