    We look forward to seeing you at the Hui-ā-Tau on Saturday. 

    It’s an important hui and an opportunity to report and share our results and to hear your aspirations for the future. Please find below important information ahead of our hui.

    If you have not received voting papers for any reason, or need replacements, call 0800 922 822 and request special voting papers.

    Whānau can also vote at the hui on the day until 12pm.

    Travel subsidy available

     A travel subsidy to reimburse reasonable travel costs to Motueka is available. Please note accommodation is not included.

    Annual General Meeting - Venue Change

    An Annual General Meeting will now be held at Te Maatu, Motueka High School, 52 Whakarewa Street, Motueka at 10.30am on Saturday 16 November 2024.

    Nominations Received

    Nominations for three (3) Trustees of the Ngāti Rārua Iwi Trust and the Ngāti Rārua Settlement Trust closed at 4pm on Thursday 10 October 2024.
    The following people were duly nominated:

    • LUKE, Tana
    • MORGAN, Paul
    • PIGGOTT, Rima Takutai

    As there are more candidates than there are vacancies to be filled, an election will be held between the listed candidates on Saturday 16 November 2024.

    Method of Voting


    Voting will be held under the first-past-the-post electoral system, by way of postal and online ballot. The relevant dates are:

    Voting Papers will be mailed to Adult Registered Members from Thursday 17 October 2024;

    Special voting will be available from Thursday 17 October 2024 to 12 noon, Saturday 16 November 2024 by phoning 0800 922 822.

    Postal and Online voting closes at 12 noon, Saturday 16 November 2024;

    Ballot box voting will be available for the hand-delivery of voting documents at the Annual General Meeting from 10.30am to 12 noon on Saturday 16 November 2024.

    Invitation to register

    Ngāti Rārua invites anyone who has not already registered, aged 18 years or over, and with the appropriate whakapapa, to apply to be included on the Trust’s Members Register.

    There is parking along Whakarewa Street and Grey Street. A drop off area for kaumatua is also available.

    Te Whare Taikura o Te Maatu

    Te Whare Taikura o Te Maatu aligns with the local sacred mountain ‘Pukeone’ which is framed in the large picture window opposite the main entrance. Colours, patterns and materials refer to the local area.

    Please observe basic protocols befitting the cultural significance of this building. For example: 

    • Visitors will be welcomed into the space. 
    • Visitors will be expected to remove shoes and place at the door. 
    • Only water can be consumed in the Whare
    • Do not run around in the Whare. 
    • Do not sit on tables 
    • Taonga and Display cases are not to be handled 
    • NO SMOKING OR VAPING. Smoking/vaping is prohibited in any part of the school grounds and buildings in accordance with the Smoke-free Environments Act 1990.
